My Top 5 Quotes of All Time

Written By Atishaya Gupta (Grade 7)

Quotes from prominent and celebrated people often have many encouraging and moral values hidden inside them. Personally, when I read a quote, it gives me a sense of belief and strength and I feel the power hidden behind that quote. Quotes are a great way of conveying messages and spread them throughout the public, especially if you are a celebrated figure. So, today I am going to share some amazing quotes that connect to me the most. Let’s jump into it!

The Quotes

5) “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new” – Albert Einstein

This quote holds in many a situation in life. I truly believe in this spectacular saying from Albert Einstein, of the best scientists of all time. When you try something new, you are bound to make mistakes as you haven’t experienced it before. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. Also, if you keep on doing something you have known throughout, you will not learn something new. No new experiences can lead to a dreary and boring life. It is OK to make mistakes. They are the stepping path to success in new fields.

4) “creativity is intelligence having fun” – Albert Einstein

Another quote by Albert Einstein. You might have seen this quote on the home page of my blog (atishayagupta.com). This is an amazing quote and I feel it connects to me quite a lot. Creativity is when you innovate and when ideas spring up in your brain. They are your ideas. And where do these ideas come from? What is the source of their knowledge? Well, your intelligence or, the things you know. When that and fun is combined – boom, new ideas. The very substance of an idea comes from your intelligence. But the fun and the unique part comes when you are relaxed and happy – the natural emotion while having fun. Thus, these 2 combine to form a powerful mix – which is creativity.

3) “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever” – Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi was an instrumental figure in the Indian Independence Struggle and he has said many meaningful quotes. This is one of the very best ones that he has ever said, according to me. Let’s divide this quote into 2 parts – “Live as if you were to die tomorrow” to be the first and “Learn as if you were to live forever” to be the second. What I perceive from the first part is that you have to live your life. You don’t know when you will die, could be this second, 10 years, 20 years, etc. Every day, you have to enjoy the present and be grateful to your surroundings. Have a fun time in the present moment, because you are not going to get that same moment again in your life. Therefore, enjoy your life and be aware of the present. The second part highlights the fact that you have to learn forever. Learning is a continuous process and cannot be stopped forever because, as we all know, learning is beyond school. You learn via life’s experiences and these learnings will help you forever further in your life. For instance, now I know never to put a cup in the freezer. (I put one in yesterday, the cup toppled and I was yelled at by my furious mom for an hour). So, that was a good “learning.”

2) “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses” – Abraham Lincoln

This is a marvellous quote and certainly deserves a number two on my list. Abraham Lincoln was an intellectual and one of the best presidents that America ever had. Kudos to him for creating such a quote. This quote means that we have 2 ways of looking at life – either being a pessimist or an optimist. Either we complain about things not being there, or we are grateful for the things that are there. Oftentimes, things are bad if we think them to be bad. So, if we maintain a good, positive attitude even in the most challenging obstacles, we will be able to get over them. So, keep on working hard, have an amazing attitude, and no mountain is big enough for you to climb!

1 “Dreams is now what you see in sleep but is the thing that doesn’t let you sleep– APJ Abdul Kalam

This is the quote that I love the most. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is my role model and this truly is a powerful saying. Your dream, your passion is not going to let you sleep. Every day, you will be striving towards your goal and your dream will drive you forward. No matter what obstacle you face, you will be able to overcome if you keep believing in your dream. Your dream will push you and nobody can stop that. Again, it is not what you see in your sleep, being comfortable, doesn’t let you sleep pushing you out of your comfort zone. So, get out there and follow your dream!

I have so many more quotes that I am bursting to share with you! Apart from these that I listed, more of my favourite quotes stem from Albus Dumbledore – the best headmaster Hogwarts has ever seen and the best wizard in the wizarding world. Of course, I am referencing Harry Potter! (If you haven’t read the series, I suggest you put down your device and start reading immediately) Quotes are an amazing way of sharing your views to the world and I hope that I, myself make a few of them express my thoughts! They can truly guide you and motivate you and help you throughout your journey in learning. After all, “A quote a day keeps fear away!”

I opened my eyes to the world on 7th April 2008. Since the very beginning, I loved exploring. It was books that fed my curiosity as I delved into the world of spies, astronauts, and wizards. But the one place that grabbed my attention the most was our galaxy. I hope you enjoy reading my articles and poems! Have a look at my blog here.
