The Ahoms, who ruled the northeastern region of Assam, were able to defeat Aurangzeb’s forces an astounding seventeen times during his reign.
The conflict between the Ahom dynasty and the Mughal Empire began in the 17th century when the Mughals sought to expand their dominion into the northeastern territories of India, including Assam. Led by the relentless Aurangzeb, the Mughal forces launched several campaigns to subjugate the Ahom kingdom.
The Ahom kings, renowned for their strategic brilliance, devised innovative tactics that played to their strengths.
