Once upon a time there was a bunny named Hopscotch. She always kept her long ears clean and fluffy. She wanted to be a chef. Hopscotch knew what she liked and what she did not like. She loved to read exciting stories and books. She was completely head over heels with the magic of books. Whenever she sat down to read, she felt as if she was in a whole new world. She fancied many different books but her favourites included “Papa I want the moon” and “Be Kind”.
One day, she told her friends about her dream job. The fox, the snake and the owl made fun of her.
Then a kind little brown mouse said “I know Fa Mouse, the chef who lives in the Town”.
“Well, in that case, can you please help me meet him. I would love to ask him a couple of questions about how to become a chef?” said Hopscotch. The little Brown Mouse denied and told her that he had lots of pending homework and assignments to be submitted to Mr. Gruffalo. Hopscotch was disappointed. Later that day, she came across a bulletin board in the library. There were several quotations pinned on it. All quotations had great meaning to them but the one that touched Hopscotch was one by Eleanor Brown,“There is no problem that a library card can’t solve”.
“Ah! But of course!”, she exclaimed. “Oh! silly me. Why did I not think about it earlier? “
She went to the section of the library which had the books about culinary arts and techniques.
Hopscotch attentively read books about cooking and carefully made notes from them. She tried fireless cooking at first and prepared milkshakes, cakes, salads and soups and gradually moved on to making simple dishes.
When Christmas arrived, she baked the fanciest cake a rabbit her age could bake and won the “Master Chef Junior” contest.
She was overjoyed and learnt the lesson well that if we are determined and work hard everything is possible. She was very delighted to find a treasure – books – that could take her places all in the comfort of her burrow.
