JK Rowling – My Inspiration

Written By Shivansh Goel (Grade 5)

The Harry Potter series is the most popular magic series in the world. Incantations like ‘Sectumsempra’, ‘Wingardium Leviosa’, ‘Imperio’, ‘Crucio’, ‘Avada Kedavra’, and many, many more. But who do you think created these popular stories? That person was JK Rowling. JK Rowling is the perfect example of ‘Rags to Riches’, and that is why I have chosen her.

JK Rowling was born on 31 July 1965 in Gloucestershire, England as Joanne Rowling, to Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling. She went to Exeter University and Moray House for education. She wrote her first book when she was seven, a book about a rabbit called Rabbit. The first book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in 1997, and the entire series was published by 2007. The newest Harry Potter book, a play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, was released in 2016. JK Rowling is also a philanthropist. She wrote 3 books to raise money for her two charitable organisations, Lumos and Comic Relief. These three books are called the Hogwarts Library. Lumos is an organisation hat lights the path of poor children, while Comic Relief is used to relieve children by means of comical acts. I appreciate JK Rowling as she is the perfect example of ‘Rags to Riches’.

Her life inspires me as she has made funny stories to entertain her readers and has also made the lives of children simple. I do aspire to be a philanthropist like her.
