The Girl Who Drank the Moon is a fictional thriller authored by Kelly Barnhill.
Flipping through the pages you discover the story about a little town of Protectorate where every year their people leave a new born baby as a sacrifice to the “wicked witch” who lives in the forest. But little do they know the witch Xan is a kind one who rescues the children and delivers them to welcoming families on the other side of the forest, nourishing the babies with starlight on the journey.
But one year, Xan accidentally gives a baby girl enchanted moonlight and not starlight resulting in the ordinary child getting extraordinary magic. Xan decides that she will raise this girl (who she names Luna) as her own along with the help of a mystical dragon- Fryrian.
As Luna’s 13th birthday comes closer, her magic becomes visible with dangerous yet thrilling consequences. It fires one’s imagination and makes it hard to put down the book unless you reach the end!
This New York Times bestseller is certainly a must read for all.
