Ruskin Bond

Written By Akshat Bhatia (Grade 3)

You must read the books written by the famous author Ruskin Bond. He was born on 19 May 1934 in Kasauli and he is currently 86 years old. He is recently living in Landour which is just above Mussoorie. He got Padma Shri in 1999, Padma Bhushan in 2014 and John Llewellyn Award in 1957. He also got the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992 for ‘Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra’. His height in feet inches is 5’3” and his weight is 90 kgs. His 1st book was ‘The Room on the Roof’ which he wrote in 1956. When he wrote this book, he was around 17 years old. He wrote many books like ‘Delhi is Not Far’, ‘Great Stories For Children’, ‘Cherry Tree’ etc. He studied at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. His father’s name was Aubrey Bond and his mother’s name was Edith Clarke. Ruskin Bond has an adopted family but unfortunately, he lost one of his children a few years ago. I would highly recommend reading some books written by Ruskin Bond. His books are educational for kids and adults alike.
