The English Kingdom

Written By Ayanna Raj (Grade 8)

Locked up and nowhere to roam?
Let’s take you on a journey beyond your home.

Have you ever been to London town?
Where the Queen still holds on to her crown.

To start the tour, take a flight,
Even better if it is in the night.

Then early morning when you land,
Check into the hotel that you have planned.

Ensure your agenda is a power-packed one,
There’s so much to see, you’ll never get done.

For a taste of royalty, you must include,
Buckingham and Windsor as your prelude

Watch the guards as they change,
Or catch a glimpse of the queen in her reign.

Next take a bus to the Big Ben,
It’s not a clock, but a bell in its den!

If you want to see London from an aerial view,
then the London Eye is just for you!!

If, of heights, you have a fear,
Make yourself a penny press souvenir!

Watch how the penny gets a dent …
Of your favourite monument

If you wish to try an ogre dance,
Give Shrek’s Adventure a chance!

For the ones who prefer quite the scare,
Enter the London Dungeon, if you dare.

In case you have kids in tow,
Lego land is the place to go!

Use Lego bricks to build a tower,
You will still be taller, so enjoy the power!

For one who likes music and art,
Concerts at Royal Albert Hall will light up your heart.

Do not forget about the old nursery rhyme,
See London Bridge which may fall at any time!

For all the fiction lovers,
Harry Potter world is what London uncovers!

Get your own wand and try some Butterbeer,
Its not alcoholic so have no fear.

If you want to go on a shopping spree,
In Oxford Street, set your heart free!

To see sculptures, artefacts and structures galore,
Go to London’s museums to explore!

Visit Madame Tussauds to see celebrities in wax,
It’s worth the price even if it includes a tax!

You must visit Ripley’s Believe It or Not
In a web of mystery, you will be caught.

Don’t give Westminster Abbey a slip
Its an ideal place for peace and worship

London has something for everyone,
Check it out, its loads of fun!!

I hope you enjoyed this virtual vacation,
Brought to you at your home station!
