Wordle – Taking the World by Storm

Written By Ananya Agarwal (Grade 8)

What is wordle? Ever seen the green, yellow and white boxes on social media?

Worlde, the game which has hit the world by storm, to the students to the teachers to celebrities, everyone has been enjoying this fun game. It has become such an addiction that people cant end their day without guessing that one word, this game has become a part of people and their group chats too.

It is a daily game almost like a crossword which can only be played once in the entire day. Every day the words are refreshed and it relaxes and diverts your mind a lot from the daily stress of work.  The site is very well made, with the rules being explained quite well, the five lettered words are words that we use every day and are quite easy, but it can seem like the most difficult word while guessing it.

You might think that this is just a word game, but according to New York Times over 30.000 people play this game on a regular basis and go absolutely bonkers for it. And there are a few things that have made people so attached to it, one of them being the competition it creates between friends and family of guessing the word right and also the streak count system the site has. It surely keeps you waiting for the next day’s word.

We all do know about Wordle, but do you know who created this game? It was Josh Wardle, a software engineer who knew that his partner loved word games. So, he originally created it for their own enjoyment, but then slowly he shared it with his family and friends, and eventually, it got really famous. And I think we all are really grateful that he made this game because it is so great and fun.
