Google – My Favourite App

Written By Namrathaa Shivakumar (Grade 9)

The mobile phone is one of the greatest inventions of modern science. It appears that life without a mobile phone is not easy. In today’s world when we move out of our house, the basic things we carry with us include water, wallet and nowadays mobile phone. But something that makes mobile phones so important is the apps present in them. Just like farmers are the backbone of our country, we can say that the apps are just like the pillars of a mobile phone!!

Today, utilising my opportunity, I would like to speak about my favourite app that is Google. There are lots of reasons behind why I like Google. Suppose I want to browse something, I just open Google Chrome. If I were to go to Mumbai all the way through my car, I just open Google Maps. If I  want to know the name of an unknown flower, I open Google Lens. Suppose I want to chat with my friend, I just open Gmail. Suppose I want to have a meeting with my buddies, I just open Google Meet. Suppose I want to download new apps, I open Google Play Store. If I am in the mood of watching videos, I just open YouTube (owned by Google). When you feel bored you can speak to Google Assistant which tries to make you feel happy. There isn’t any reason for me to say that I don’t like Google. Most of the mobiles have Google inbuilt.

Google was founded on 4th September 1998 in California in the USA. Google is an American multinational technology company that specialises in Internet-related services and products which include online advertising, a search engine, cloud computing, software and hardware. Google is also considered as one of the big four internet stocks. The current CEO of Google is Sundar Pichai. The name Google means 1 followed by 100 zeros. (derived from googol)

Since the time I have been using this app, I don’t have any complaints. Google also keeps updating and enhancing its features. One important thing I really like about Google is that our data remains secure, so all the private details and documents are safe and I really trust Google in this regard. Whenever my dad makes a payment he always prefers Google Pay because he trusts that Google is very secure. When I feel bored I keep speaking to Google Assistant and it keeps saying me one or the other quotes, jokes or does any other things to entertain me. Whenever I want to know something new, the first word that comes up in my mind is Google. If coming into the sector of academics, I always search for extra questions and other important terms related to my syllabus, where I find different kinds of problems and solutions and how to tackle them. The images in Google are really awesome. There are a collection of different quotes, beautiful sceneries and many more to explore. Every day I keep searching for one or the other quotes in Google because they are very inspiring.

Sometimes people say that this movie is very nice and this particular shop has very nice collections of dresses and many other things. But we usually hear these things from two or three people. If we really want to know the opinion of a large number of people then the only word that comes into my mind is Google. If I want to search how many people have liked this movie I can just go to Google and type its name and see the ratings. It’s not only a matter of movies. Even app ratings can be seen at the Google Play Store.

These days people hardly go to shops to buy dresses. They just browse different apps and find their best choice. Instead of doing that you can search what kind of dress or anything you wish for you want to buy online on Google and it will show you all the available stores on a single page so that you can compare the prices and quality of the things and buy what you wish accordingly.

In our day to day life, we keep getting many forwards and they may be fake as well as real. In that case, if you want to confirm whether the given forward is fake or real you can just go to Google and search for it, just like doing a reality check. Google is not always right. Sometimes people upload wrong messages or videos which is very irrelevant. That is the reason why there are so many websites so that we can check twice before coming up with a final decision.

Myself as a 9th standard student, I have always been liking Google very much. All of its apps are in my favourites list but particularly Google. But depending on Google for all our day-to-day needs will not do. We should be independent and use Google when we are really in need of it. Where there are positives,  there are some negatives too. Just like some people upload weird things on YouTube or Google which we should stay away from and even for that purpose many videos are allowed for only people above 18. Google has always been my favourite app and will be forever. I have recommended and preferred Google always. I have also learnt many things from it. I keep getting inspired by its quotes every day. (I also got to know about this competition in detail with the help of Google itself!!)

I would like to conclude by saying that, our mind is our own personal google, it has answers, when the question is ready the answer arrives. We just have to find the right question and submit it.
