Virat Kohli on taking paternity leave

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are expecting their first child in January 2021, and the latest update on their parenthood journey comes from Kohli who wants to fly back to India to be with his wife and in time for the birth of their first child. Kohli quoted "It puts things into perspective for you. It is a beautiful feeling. It is difficult to describe how you feel, but when we found it, we were over the moon."

The news of Kohli taking a leave from duties was met with mixed reactions on social media. On one hand, Kohli fans supported him for choosing family over his work. But there was a section of cricket fans who compared him to veteran MS Dhoni's call to stay back for World Cup duties during the birth of his daughter Ziva. Despite explaining his decision to his fans and informing the selection committee as well, Kohli was questioned again and Dhoni’s example was used to ridicule Kohli.
