Another Strike

Written By Diya Barmecha (Grade 8)

Another day,
Another strike.
Time passes,
But I stay where I am.

The guards come and go
But I stay where I am
I get a message to meet my family
But I stay where I am

Looking back I could have had so much
If I would have stayed where I am
But I moved and made
A big mistake

I killed someone, for money
For only money
Something that could
Have been acquired another way.

Looking back
If I could have stayed where I have
I would not have been here
I would not have been a jailbird
I would have been free

The next day,
Another strike.
This is my life,
One day and one strike,
That’s all I do
