Solitude’s Search

Written By Nischal Srinivasan (Grade 12)

Alone versus loneliness, two sides of a coin,
One a peaceful state, the other a mournful groan.
I’m sitting here, alone in my room,
But it’s the loneliness that feels like impending doom.

Every second is an emotional pain,
A reminder of the love that’s in vain.
I’m struggling to hold my feelings tight,
Hiding them from the world, to avoid their sight.

But deep inside, I’m yearning for connection,
Someone who can understand my imperfection.
I’m on a path to find that someone,
To help me come out of the darkness, and be done.

Loneliness is a burden, I can’t bear,
It’s a weight that’s too heavy to share.
But I’m not giving up, I’m fighting with all my might,
To find a way out of this endless night.

I know it won’t be easy, the road ahead is long,
But I’m determined to find where I belong.
Alone may be peaceful, but it’s not for me,
I need the warmth of companionship to be free.

So, I’ll keep moving forward, one step at a time,
And hope that someday, my loneliness will subside.
Until then, I’ll keep searching for that special one,
Who will help me find love, and bring back the sun.
