This Awful Pandemic

Written By Sumati Varma (Grade 9)

A pandemic is being faced,

And we are now being chased.

Chased by something we fear,

This year, its not letting us clear.

Trapped in our own room,

Which now feels equivalent to living in a tomb.

Social distancing has now becoming a must,

No one are we allowed to trust.

Technology being the only way of communication,

Due to the lockdown across the nation,

It is the only way of surviving this situation.

It may not be our fault, But maybe it is a sign to halt.

Halt to see the beauty we missed,

Which was hidden in the mist.

In the mist of our chaotic lives and materialistic desires,

We forgot the beauty and peace that silence acquires.

Hi, I’m Sumati Varma and I’m a 14 year old ambivert. I have a soft spot when it comes to art, especially poetry and highly respect authors. My poetry usually comes from the darker, deeper aspect of life. My thought process and writings come from people who are suffering or are in pain but can’t find the words to express themselves. So I thought maybe I can do it for them.

My Safe Space

As I feel the warmth of the sun fall on my face,
I open my eyes, and squint through the bright rays.
Gazing ahead at the beach...

Silent Past

In shadows of the past, I feel so lost,
Was once a happy kid, now all tossed.
Circumstances cruel, changed my way...

The Perfect Life

A life without tension & worry, A life where there is no need to hurry, A life where you can have all...
