The Magnificent Mountains

Written By Arwa Rampurawala (Grade 8)

They stand against all odds,
Bold, mighty and strong.

Built over the years,
Wind echoes like laughter,
And they shed some icy tears.

They challenge even the strongest’s audacity,
No matter how valiant or how gutsy.

And as one goes higher and higher,
Deeper and deeper,
Maybe you may find a hidden treasure,

Left by someone in a hurry,
Surely it would tell a story.

Over the years many things they may have seen,
As wisdom reflects through their cracks and creeks.

But as the merciless winds go on,
And the icy storm rages on,
I’m afraid one day,
All the ice will melt away,
As the mountains decide to give up.
